Student Venture Accelerator

We want to make it easy to start a company while being an undergraduate at the University of Illinois. So, we created a program called the Student Venture Accelerator. This programs is built for students who have a business idea, but who need some help getting started. Benefits of the program include:

  • Exemption from standard University Intellectual Property rules (you own the business you start out of the space we provide). This is typically not the case when working independently.
  • Shared space with phone and fax service, computers with internet access, hand tools to develop working models, and mentorships.
  • Additional equipment, where available. This may include stipends for company founders, server space, etc.
  • Opportunities to meet other IEN student entrepreneurs and establish contacts with partner organizations.

If you are interested in becoming part of the Student Venture Accelerator please fill out our SVA application form. New applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis on the third Thursday of each month.

About

The Illini Entrepreneurship Network (IEN) is the leading entrepreneurship organization at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The mission of IEN is to promote entrepreneurship on campus and encourage students to create their own ventures.

We currently run the following projects:

Student Venture Accelerator (SVA)

The Student Startup Incubator was designed to help student entrepreneurs gain a competitive advantage. The SVA provides students with free office space, as well as other amenities such as computers, printers, phones, fax, server space, and internet access. The SVA office space is provided by the Technology Entrepreneur Center.

Consulting

IEN has a team of student consultants who have experience working with local businesses and startups in research park. This team not only helps startups get off their feet, but also provides our members with valuable consulting experience. If you’re interested in working with local startups, please come to our next meeting (we send news and events through our mailing list).

Networking

The most difficult part of any startup is finding the right people to work with, so networking is a core part of IEN.
