Urban Enviroscapes

Founders: Andy Camp & James Young
Website: http://www.urbanenviroscapes.com

Urban Enviroscapes is a company dedicated to innovative green roofing and urban farming applications. We supply products that promote saving energy while improving the environment and organic “just add water” modular farming applications for use on rooftops, balconies, or anywhere with sunlight!

For Urban Enviroscapes, ‘Green’ is not just a buzz word referring to an environmentally friendly product. We offer products that are literally green. Rooftop garden, vegetated roof, urban farming, green roof; however you refer to it, it means the same thing: growing vegetation on top of a roof in order to make the environment healthier, lower a building’s energy costs, and improve urban areas aesthetically. We provide unique products, modular green roofing systems, which utilize the commonly over-looked rooftop space of buildings. Green roofs will no longer be an option only for those with large amounts of capital, or exceptionally strong rooftops, or for the extremely environmentally conscientious.

EatCU.com

Founders: Dan Glazer & Justin Gorrell
Website: http://eatcu.com

EatCU.com was created in 2007 by us, Dan Glazer and Justin Gorrell, when we were roommates here at the University of Illinois. After two years on campus we realized that wed fallen into a routine of eating out at the same few places night after night. We grew tired of the same old same old and decided it was time for a change. We knew that C-U had plenty of dining options to offer, but we had no idea where to find them. Naturally, we turned our search to the internet. With a lack of options, even on the World Wide Web, we decided to take action. It took months of hard work, research, and dedication but it finally paid off to bring you EatCU.com! EatCU.com contains the menu, phone number, hours, and location of every restaurant and bar in Champaign-Urbana!

Now with EatCU.com students, faculty, and residents of Champaign-Urbana can easily browse menus, search for new restaurants, and satisfy any craving! Keep an eye out for our exclusive food specials! Check out our online ordering feature weve made it easier than ever to get delivery!

Our goal with EatCU.com is to make the dining process here as simple and satisfying as possible. We look forward to serving the Champaign-Urbana community and we hope that you enjoy our efforts@

MatchGroveFounders: Thomas Bunyan & Anthony Santarelli
Website: http://www.MatchGrove.com

MatchGrove is a native tree and shrub growing incubator customized for the suburban and rural classroom. MatchGrove provides an indoor vivarium which includes all necessary components (minus water, electricity, and labor) to grow plants native to the school’s natural habitat. MatchGrove also provides step-by-step growth tutorials which are integrated with accredited grade and subject specific curriculum.

This curriculum (either web or print based) covers topics on biology and ecology, while emphasizing the important role every individual plays in preserving natural habitats and promoting a healthy planet.

After the seeds mature to the stage where they can be planted, they are sold to the community as a fund raising initiative. During the fund raising initiative, MatchGrove aids school districts with a brochure that highlights the importance of supporting education and local ecology. Compared to traditional fund raisers, MatchGrove empowers students to improve their education with a hands-on experience that benefits their environment. MatchGrove operates an online database that quantitatively displays the progress our initiative has made in preserving the local habitat and improving education. This database serves as an instrument to foster competition between classrooms, schools, communities, and larger geographical regions. MatchGrove is operated by Thomas Bunyan and Anthony Santarelli. Anthony Santarelli is a senior in Environmental Economics and Thomas Bunyan is a senior in Urban and Regional Planning.
